I have a 7004ABR router and would like to play games on msn.zone. Problem is I don't fully understand the necessary settings.

From zone
Connection Ports for Client Configuration Ports for Host Configuration
Initial TCP Connection 47624 Outbound 47624 Inbound
Subsequent TCP Inbound 2300-2400 2300-2400
Subsequent TCP Outbound 2300-2400 2300-2400
Subsequent UDP Inbound 2300-2400 2300-2400
Subsequent UDP Outbound 2300-2400 2300-2400
.

Where do I set these. I can't find in control structure that specifies outbound and inbound

Thanks in advance

I have the 7008BR, but I think the admin is the same. On the admin page, go to 'Special AP'. On the bottom should be a drop down box with popular applications. MSN Gaming Zone is in there on mine.

If you don't have that then for one of the ID's on that page, set trigger to 47624, and incoming ports to 2300-2400. Click on enable box, and save.

Yours must be the high end because I don't have the drop down option :) so I had to do it the "hard" way.

Thanks for the information.

If you want to simply PLAY games, you don't need special configuration. Our SMC Barricade was configured without any special port allowances and my brother regularly plays Half Life-based mods and Aliens vs. Predator 2 without anything.

Hosting a server is a different matter altogether. Look in the documentation as to what incoming/outgoing ports are used, and tunnel through to them, OR run the computer in the DMZ. Failing that, try this list to see what port your game possibly uses.

I think the issue is with zone.com. It requires certain resources to be available, at least for Age of Empires as per their website.

I see they have diff download links depending on the part # of the router 750.5432, or 750.5648.......marked on the bottom of the router. Did you get the right one ?? Just checking....
