Hi,
Just got a new SMC Barricade router and I have Mediaone.net as a cable modem ISP.
I setup this router to spoof the MAC address of my D-Link network card which used to be connected to mediaone's cable modem. That part worked fine and now the router has the MAC address of the nic card. Started thinking about this and does this mean now that I have 2 devices with the same MAC address on my network. That won't work will it?
The problem I started seeing is when I installed Quake3 that I just got and was playing online my machine would freeze up from time to time. Only way to fix was reboot. At first I thought this was a Video card problem but the more I think about it I bet it's because I have 2 devices on the network with the same MAC address.
So, do I need to buy another NIC or should I change the router back to it's MAC address? If I do that won't mediaone know I have a router then? Or should I just call them and say my NIC died and give them the MAC address for my rounter and tell them it's the new MAC for the new NIC?
Any ideas?????
Thanks,
Brad
