smc.exe eating 50-75% of my memory. HELP

I just reinstalled my windows xp home,all the updates,kaspersky antivirus and Sygate firewall(5.6)
I know the smc.exe is Sygate's file. Why the hell does it drain so many resources?
How do I fix it. It never happened before

Reinstall your firewall. Somes times it would consume a lot of resources if it has a corrupt file of sorts. I've seen it happen many times before. Same setup too... Kaspersky in the background right along with Sygate.
