SMC Barricade to Linksys switch

I filled up the 4 ports on the Barricade, so I got the 5-port switch to expand. Connected the uplink on the switch to one of the ports on the router, but when I connect a PC to the switch, it can't see any PCs on the router or connect to the internet. All the PCs are set up using DHCP, the switch has been tested on another network and works fine, and the cables are good. Anyone with a similar setup that could offer some advice? Thanks

Switch port to Uplink port - Straight CAT5.

Switch port to Switch Regular port - Corssover CAT5.

Right, I'm using a standard Cat5 cable from one of the LAN ports on the router to the switch uplink port, but I'm not able to see the other PCs or connect to the internet. There aren't any special settings on the router in order to make this work are there? Any other ideas?

with the SMC Barricade at least the 7004ABR u don't need to set the uplink port of the other switch because the barricade have the auto MDI-MDIX
port configuration, try to set the port of the regular switch to MDI and let the barricade set the port configuration.

I just have the 7004BR and there's no configuration to the Linksys switch, but thanks anyway.

It should work fine, but I'm a little bit confused. On this site comparing routers, it shows that the Barricade doesn't have an uplink port. So I'm not sure that you can do this or not, but you're supposed to be able to. Good luck. Have you tried the manual or e-mailing SMC Tech Support?

Yeah the Barricade doesn't have an uplink port, but the switch does. It says in the Barricade manual that you can connect a hub or switch to one of the 4 ports on the router, which is what I've done. I've emailed both SMC and Linksys and they've given me the same instuctions. I'm currently still emailing with a Linksys tech person who hopefully can help me work this out, but I'd appreciate any other suggestions. I've got a crossover cable coming and I'm going to try running it from the router to one of the regular LAN ports on the switch to see if I can get anything.
