Thanks for all the replies so far .. really appreaciate it. I was in a rush just now and that's why I couldn't be more detailed.
But now I am going to try to be as detailed as possible.
It's a SMC 7004BR 4-port router. I am currently a student at a university, but since I don't live in the dorm no more, I obtain my internet connection through a 'cable modem.' All non-dorm cable modems are on one T1 line. There is a port in each room, but I have a room-mate. Well, the room is supposed to be a single, but I am trying to minimize summer housing cost by sharing it with another person. First question: Which category do I fall in? Cable modem or DSL? I have static IP assigned by the school's DNS server. However, I can also hardcode myself with an unused IP. I chose to do the latter to avoid billing.
After installing the Barricade, I figure I can't hard code myself anymore, something which I don't desire. I thought if the barricade can act as a normal hub, I should have no problem, right?? Any thoughts??
