shurato - I'm waiting on [my] DSL modem, so I can't give anything close to an unwavering recommendation. Any router in a stand-alone setup will function well - it's how it integrates with the DSL/cable modem that's more important (hence most of the criticism of the Linksys). Check the previous thread, as there were a number of post-purchase comments on the SMC router (which were all good if memory serves me correctly). The printer server works great!

ii49ersii - in answer to your question, yes. But you'll also need network interface cards and network cabling for both. Most of the current Cable/DSL routers allow simultaneous internet use by multiple computers without the need for separate IP addresses.

I hate to join the Kewl 1inux crowd, but I am running a redhat router together with Apache, ftp server and samba server, not to mention a firewall with ip masqueradding. And all this on a free sparcstation 20 that I got from a friend. I am sure you can achieve similar results on a classic pentium machine

ii49, no, you don't need this to share DSL between your two modems

but, if you look at your other options, there's intalling two network cards in one of your boxes and hopefully having enough irq's, running the most temperamental internet connection sharing and as always, hoping that this all works with PPPoE or whatever protocol you gotta deal with and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, two to three days of configuring and nothing works together, pulling your hair out, blah, blah, blah, blah

this router is a breeze to install, it's got a nice little firewall, built-in PPPoE support and the print server is a nice little bonus..

I have the SMC Barricade and it's great. The firewall prevents most hacks according to my Blackice Defender report. I did have a little difficulty in setting it up but the 24/7 tech support walked me through the install.

I have this and it rocks!! I don't have DSL/Cable and probably won't anytime in the near future as I live in the boonies. I set my printer and external modem up on it and configured all the pc's and wham bam thank you SMC. I can now connect and use the internet and printer from any pc.

BTW, I ordered this item from Buy.com. It works great, BUT there was no UPC code on the box, and therefore I couldn't use the rebate...

There is no UPC on the box (strange), but there's one on the shrinkwrap. This is what they were saying in the old thread. You mail in the shrinkrap UPC. It still works if you buy from buy.com.
