SMC Barricade 7004AWBR and large file transfers on wireless...

Hi there,

I have an SMC Barricade 7004AWBR wireless router sitting here next to me that I will be setting up as soon as I get the wireless adapters for my computers. I have read a lot about people having the router crash when they transfer large files over the wireless. My question is, has anyone had this problem, and is this something that is going to plague me? This looks like the best wireless router out there from what I've read and been recommended except for this one problem, and I will be using a fileserver. Maybe this only happens on certain firmware? More information is much appreciated!!!

Happy Holidays!

I'm no expert (as others in this forum will attest), but I've never experienced that problem with my Barricade. I guess I'd have to ask what kind of size your thinking about, but I've routinely moved 6-12 meg files around the network with nary a hiccup.

Of course, your mileage may vary. 😉

It's 11 times faster than what I have 😀

Wires are out of the question for me and HomeRF sucks; can't wait to get rid of it, but I love wireless. Also, I won't be using WEP.
