I just replaced my Linksys 4 port router (which is a POS!!!!) with the SMC. I also bought a Lucent Orinoco Silver for my laptop... and I'm sitting in my LazyBoy while I type this! :D

Anyway, even though the card and the connection are great, I'd like to add WEP security to the mix. However, whenever I go into the SMC's Internet interface and try to add an hexadecimal WEP, it tells me that 000000000 is not a valid WEP and that I should use hexadecimals... which I did. Anybody have any suggestions or should I just go ahead and try to call SMC? Everything else is working great on the router.

One other thing... on my laptop, where its got the bar graph for the signal strength of the Orinoco, there is a caution sign and it says that the card is not communicating properly with the AP. But it is, because i'm sitting here typing this to ya'll... very peculiar, if you ask me. Any ideas?

Thanks, Jack... did all that. Or actually, had all that done before I posted to the forum. I just went and upgraded the firmware on the card itself, but I don't think that that is going to happen. I added a WEP code, and that didn't help either.

The card communicates with the AP just fine, so its kind of odd that the software is telling me that its getting that error, because there really isn't any problem with the communication. Oh well, maybe I'll just have to live with it.
