The SMC Barricade 7004BR, and the 7004ABR, are among the best Routers available.

The new 7004VBR, has a unique feature, you can put 10 computers on the DMZ (provided they have 10 external IPs from your ISP).

However, it is better to wait with the 7004VBR until the firmware matures there are some reported problems.

Just today I acquired the SMC2404WBR; it was either that or one of the 7004's, and the guys working at the store where I bought it said that the 2404 was basically the same thing but "newer and faster." They were the same price, too.

Anyway, I ran it through a number of tests to compare it to the linksys router that I have, and it totally blew the linksys out of the water. Faster throughput, quicker response time, etc. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself by praising it so early on... <knocks on wood>

Sometime in the next week I'm going to return the linksys for whatever sort of a refund I can get on it.

I love the SMC I bought so far- great unit and was highly recommended by many on here and elsewhere in reviews. I got mine new off eBay for a tad over $50!

I'm using the SMC Barricade router also and I love it so far. The print server and dial up modem backup is great. I just saw a new model on the SMC website so maybe you should wait and see what that's about. I haven't gotten a chance to read the reviews yet but JackMDS points out the highlights of the router. Some D-link routers also have the print server and you might be able to pick one up for cheaper than the Barricade after rebates and/or coupons. The drawback to the print server on the Barricade is that it doesn't support bi-directional printers (the last time I checked), so just make sure you printer isn't bi-directional. Hope this helps.
