SMC 11Mbps Wireless Ethernet Adapter PCI Card - $59.99
Use a $10 off $50 coupon found elsewhere

This is the adapter card AND the wireless card. It seems like a steal at that price. Overstock sells the wireless card alone for the same price, and the combination sells for $130 elsewhere.

It looks like you can remove the card from the adapter and use it in a notebook computer too, but I am not sure about that.

I'm not totally convinced that this is the PCMCIA card with PCI adapter card. However, if it is, this is a mad hot deal. I ordered it just in case. thanks.

You can not use this card as a PCMCIA card. I repeat you CANNOT use this as a PCMCIA card.

I ordered a PCMCIA card from buy.com and they sent me this. The fact that they refused to
believe me and I ended up just returning it and getting a DLINK card is either here nor there, but I
tried to take the card out of the pci slot and put it in my laptop with no luck.
A quick call to SMC tech support tells me that the pci version is 3.3 volts and the PCMCIA slot is
pumping out 5 volts. (or vice versa, I can never remember) .

Regardless no luck.

seems pretty good, too bad they dont come apart. Prism based card. Would be good if you are setting up a sputnik or Joltage system.

just remember the other way to hook up a PC is using a USB device, which allows you move it around for best signal. about $80 though.

Just an FYI, i just check the smc.com data sheets on both th PCI and PCMCIA card and they both list as 5v.

The fact that it's refurbished doesn't really make any difference -- they carry a lifetime warranty anyway.

A USB adapter would probably have better range and performance though.
