SMC 7004ABR Broadband Router Security ???

Hi I have a SMC 7004ABR Broadband Router setup at home. I already setup the wireless and everything is working great. I can go about 2 houses down and still able to be connected via wireless network. Recently I brought an iBook home to test their airport card and without any setups I just turned on the iBook and boom I am in the network and on the internet already. Doesn't this mean that anyone that have an access of iBook or other laptops with wireless setup can access my network?? How can I stop this?

thanks in advance

You would have to use encryption. I'm not an apple guy, but I know that the apple airport base station supports 40 and 128-bit . See if your ibook does.

You might also be able to set the WAP to allow connection only from specific MAC addresses. I don't know the Airport. I do know that the wireless version of your router can do this.
