I cannot get this router to work with a dial up modem or cox@home. The manual is merely a copy of the help files and of limited use. On a typical new install of win98se with my nic setup as CX111111-X and Lan settings http://proxy:XXXX, I can access cox@home. To access my dial up isp I use the control panel internet options to setup my account and modem.

I tried to used the automatic DCHP on the smc7004 but I got an error page not found. I then used the manual settings ip adj and was able to access the router settings. I could change them but I could not access the internet.

The manual did not specify if any change beyond the primary setting need be made. I tried to set up the DCHP. I was successful in getting it to dial the modem but it erased my password. The status indicated that I was connected to the net but I still could get no website to load.

I was able to access the other four computers on my net and to print from each through the router.

How do I set the Barricade smc7004 up to access cox@home and my local isp via dial up modem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not used this unit before but the cd that came with it should have a complete manual on it. I read reviews on this unit and said the instructions are on the disk, that is the way my Netgear was also.
