This letter is to express my feelings on the current rage from fellow deal searchers. As you might know, there is a lot of questions floating around dealing with the SMC 16 port switch deal of buy one, get one free. Well for most of us, this deal is not the case.
I found out about this great deal, and ordered the one switch to get one free switch. My credit card was maxed for this month, so I had to send a money order. Monday afternoon when it was snowing in N.J, I drove to the post office to purchase a Money Order. Then I drove to UPS to send my payment via 2 day air. Lets do some math.
Money Order cost $1.00
Est in gas spent $3.00
UPS cost $10.00

$14.00 total
I called Tuesday night to confirm the deal was still good, and was told yes. After then being told by my fellow peers, deal searchers, that they were only getting just the one swich, I called again today, Wednesday to ask again about this deal. I was told this deal is no longer vailed, in fact my customer support rep told me it was a computer error! I then expressed my feelings of having to pay to send the money order in for this deal, and my rep did not show any feelings nor did she respond. I then canceled the order.
Not only am I out of the deal, im also out of the money it cost to send you my payment the order.
Lets face it, this was not, is not a error. You are dealing with a product that most of the buyers have some knowledge about computers. These customers do not accecpt the fact this was a error, and most of them know better. One of the reasons for this is because we know what goes on. The big guys tells the reps to say this or that so it does not look as bad for the company. Example, if you ever had DSL installed, you know what I mean.
Get your act together Buy.com. I recommend you send a mass email about what happen, and what will happen. You have yet to do this, even small retailers would do this. First the hitachi deal, now this. Im no lawyer, but im sure this could hold up in court since this ?deal? was posted in 2 spots. Not only that, but some people did get their free switch!
As for me, I expect you to do the right thing. If you do not honor the deal. I?ll still be back. I would expect you to pay me for my troubles of having to send a money order when you send me a refund check. If this deal is still good, please un-cancel my order. I have bought from buy.com many times. I am a very large home purchaser. It would not be the best thing to anger me more. Buy.com is where I look first. I plan on spending close to a $1,000 in the next month or too. Im sure many other places would want my bussiness if you do not.
It would even make things go smoother if a supervisor contacted me via phone to let me know what is going on. It would make me feel a lot better and know that buy.com wants me as a customer.
