SMB 1.0 and SMB 2.0, interoperability.

Windows Vista has a New SMB/NMB flavor ( SMB 2.0 ), and Microsoft is doing at Linux side a propaganda that they will make Vista interoperability with other Systems as well. SMB 1.0 was not open ( U.E. is sueing them for this and not for another things really ). SMB 2.0 is being launched and no one notice about opening standards.

Will SMB/NMB Starndards be opened to Really make interoperability or it's just another lie they are talking to gain more time ?

In Brazil they told about this in FISL but I haven't see any REAL action in doing this.
What do you think about ?
Will they finnaly open those standards ?

CIFS1 standard was open, the problem was that Microsoft loosely interpretted their own standard. 😛

Samba 4.0 supposedly supports CIFS2, despite Balmer. 🙂
