$11? Where are you? Cali? In Denver all that cost me ~$7. I agree that they are garbage though. Must be an acquired taste.

On the contrary, I'm right next to you up in Boulder. I'll show you my receipt if you don't believe me. ;)

Agreed with OP, but I only went once. Once was enough

Also, the price is definitely high at that place. I call bullshit on the dude saying he got all that same stuff for $7 at the same place without coupons. Oddly enough the one I went to was in Denver too...

Man, good deals for you guys. My bacon cheeseburger, small fries, and small beverage from Five Guys last week cost me just shy of $16. :hmm:

i have been to the one in Loveland a couple of times when i make a road trip to the parrot store. 11 bucks is pretty close to what i have paid. i honestly like Wendys a lot better, taste better and about 4 bucks cheaper.

I love a good grease burger. But for health reasons i would recommend you avoid the fries at Five Guys.

found the article:

Worst Regular Order of Fries
Five Guys Fries (large)
1,464 calories
71 g fat (14 g saturated)
213 mg sodium

Unfortunately, Five Guys doesn’t offer anything but fries in the side department. Your safest bet, of course, is to skip the fries altogether (you’d be better off adding a second patty to your burger), but if you can’t bring yourself to eat a burger sans fries, then split a regular order. That will still add 310 calories to your meal, but it beats surrendering more than 75% of your day’s calories to a greasy paper bag.

who eats a large fry by themselves at five guys?

smashburger is ok. the counter is the one that's really expensive. haven't tried elevation as it's a bit far from the office.

for $12 i'd rather get a burger and manhattan at fleming's happy hour.

I find the best decent value burger is still Wendy's. Since they redid their menu, it's fantastic.

Congrats on living in Boulder where prices are like California then

I concur that I spend 7-8 on the same thing here in Denver

Me and the kids like them. The wife doesn't really like them. I do prefer 5Guys but there are none near us.

I got the NJ Big Smash last night with fried pickles and the girls got kids burger meals and I ate one of their orders of fries.

Yeah I think SmashBurger is total shit. Worst burger I've had other than the local exceptionally shitty McDonald's. The burger I got was like twice the size of the bun but was thin, and it looked and tasted like an improperly cooked sausage patty. The fries were terrible. And then to top it off, it was more expensive than Five Guys. It was like $25 for 2 people at Smash Burger, and like $34 for 3 people (4, maybe 5 burgers, and 3 orders of fries) at Five Guys.

Why would you order a large fries for yourself? A small/reg is still more than enough for 1 person. If you get a small/reg and split it, it can't be more than a couple hundred calories. No different than any other fast food fries.

Was it the one downtown on 16th street? I worked downtown and only went to it one time and it was still less than 10$. Probably like $9

The one by my work now that I've visited more often is around $7-$8 for burger fries and a drink

Downtown is always a bit more expensive. Regardless, OP might have had bigger sizes then what I got.

Bottom line is OP is correct on one thing, SmashBurger blows for the price.

5 guys fries are definitely meant to be shared. I went there for the first time by myself and won't make that mistake again. Quantity is definitely not the same as other places so it's weird to compare them like they did.

I like 5 guys and elevation burger. Never tried smashBurger as I don't know what they are trying to do different.

Edit: just looked through their website and the only thing they seem to do different is "smash" their burger with angus beef. They also offer chicken burgers.... Still don't see enough difference here to entice me away from 5 guys or elevation burger.

I like elevation burger, but I don't like the size of the burger. A single isn't enough, a double patty is too much of a meatwad, and two burgers is more than I want and costs too much.

Fair to compare them seeing how I can get 3 orders from In N Out for basically the same price. It's not like their order is more than 3 times bigger than In N Out. They give you a lot sure, but they fucking charge an arm and a leg. In N Out I get a fry for like $1.45 at my location.

Thank you, food nazis, for saving me from Five Guys :). First, nobody goes to Five Guys counting calories, unless they're insane. Second, the only people at Five Guys who order a large fry for themselves are people who are at Five Guys for the first time. I'm 6'3" and I can eat a little more than half of what they give you for a small.

while a large fries may be 1464 calories you can't say that its bad. I have NEVER seen any one person order a large (who knew how much you get) for themselves.

when i take my kids we get a small to share. a large would feed 4 of my adult friends and still have some extra.

I try not eat any of that processed junk more than once a month, so I never really cared who makes the best heart attack burger.

I know a guy who gets 5 five guy burgers plus a large fries, actually I know a lot of people who go large on their orders.

Man nothing gets people's attention like a burger thread :)

I think their chicken sandwiches are good and fries are ok but they charge top dollar for sure. Like the OP said, Around 11-12 bucks for burger/fries/coke which is pretty outrageous. The only time I go is when they have a BOGO chicken sandwich coupon out, even then it's not a fantastic deal. I don't know how they compete with the likes of in-n-out and five guys.
