SMARTGART (in ati settings)

i have the radeon 9700pro and i noticed in the advanced settings a tab called smartgart

the settings are currently at AGP 4x (it can go to 8x) and fastwrite on


should i move the agp up to 8x?

what will happen?

btw, i just noticed my motherboard box says fullu compatible with ati radeon9700series/nvidia nv18series AGP 8x standards

so should i go for it?


shold i expect a performance increase?

tis up to you but i doubt you will see an increase as most games are not even using the 4xagp to its full potential yet

if you do try it use ut2003 and see if there is a difference but beware there were a few boards that using 8xagp caused problems in

heh my 3dmark went down by 3000 in agp8x....
