We have two outside lights on our back deck, and this spider wove it's web right under one of the lights! When the light is on at night he should have plenty of snacks coming his way

I know they aren't the best pics in the world, but anyone got any idea what kind it is?

we had an awesome orb weaver around last year that kept the bugs off the deck all summer, hope this one does too!

Weve got tons of that type of spider. The build webs at night and pull it up in the morning. You have to watch out walking outside at night because the webs span large distances. And those little suckers get BIG. I used to kill all of them but now theres too many this year to hassle. But if I ever get stung by one of those things - forget it - theres going to be mass spidercide.

i got bit by a spider last year, made me have mini-seizures for a few days. doc thought it was brown recluse, but the wound never got all crazy like i've seen them. took antibiotics and anti-seizure medicine and i was all good.

even after all that, i just can't see killing the spiders. their webs are awesome to look at and they keep other annoying insects away!

True. I just dont want to share you experience. Its the same reason why I was knocking down and wiping out the wasp nests here and there. Those little flying bugs have stung me before, trying to get in my garage, etc. But then I think I had heard that wasps kill spiders. So I let them live now (within reason) to keep on eye on the spider population.

Suck it up sissy boy. A little sting won't hurt you, and it's certainly no reason to go all out crazy. Use it as an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, their ecosystem, and perhaps what you can do to not impose yourself on them 🙂

You forgot to say, "...and build a little birdhouse in your soul..."
