Currently, i am watching the show, and damn, these kids are soo young, and they know more than me at my age. Watching the show makes me feel really dumb. :(

LOL I know what you mean. I'm not watching that specific show, but I have seen one similar to it. It's amazing how much those little buggers know. ;)

Actually, its interesting. I find alot of what I learned came back to me watching that show. F*** the millionaire show, this one's cool!

wait, the host is still wearing a dull shirt with metalic one-color tie.

life has its ironies...I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner of the show to be working at your local video store as a middle aged adult...

I bet half of those kids are victims of some kind of abuse

I'm not here to flame anyone, but when I was watching the show today, I occurs to me that most of those questions can be answered by straight memorization... I mean, all you really need to succeed in that show, is just study a lot and memorize a lot of stuff, doesn't really test their intelligence...

I am not saying those kids are not smart, or I know all the questions etc... I just feel that those questions does not properly test their intelligence, just how good their memorization is and how much they have studied...

yer right... alot of the questions are trivia and don't require much thinking... but what about the math questions... I mean they had only a few seconds to come up with the answers... that's not easy.

besides... at their age... to memorize such obscure facts is very impressive.

come to think about it, yea those things are very easily memorized. But again, those math questions are killer.

I wouldn't be suprised they get a beating when they get home because they didn't answer a question correctly, and that question could have made them then winner. But still, they are still smarter than me. Makes me feel :(

Oh well...

That show only tests how much you can cram into their heads before the show starts. All of their questions are easily memoroized EVEN with a slight glossing over of the material.

If they can do Molecular Orbital theoryt on the show then I'd be impressed.

I'm with BCYL.

Just because someone has a datawarehouse in their head doesn't mean they know what to do with it.

I haven't watched the show yet though, sounds like the math questions are killer. So I'll concede that much.

Its amazing how the kids who study alot an make good grades are considerred the smart kids. All my teachers had a fit because of my high IQ and the fact that I didn't apply myself. Its funny I almost flunked the 8th grade because of a personality conflict with my english teacher (and the fact that I didn't do any homework all year) luckily she couldnt make a test hard enough for me to make less than a 95 on all year (boy did she hate me , lol). Yet in my senior year english I sat in front of the class validictorian and occassionally helped her with stuff she didn't understand. I even got college materials wanting me to apply to places that she didn't even receive (Harvard and Radcliffe)but yet had any one just looked at her grades through school and mine she would have been considerred smarter ... weird how that work. School bored me. I guess thats why I didn't apply myself ... although I did much betterin highschool I graduated with an overall 3.1247 and an academic letter.

Some of the math they got wrong was stupid. Yeah, you wouldnt expect most 12 year olds to know it, but these are The Smartest Kids in America right?

Yes I agree SOME of the math questions are a killer... that's why I said MOST of the questions can be answered thru straight memorization...

But yet, look at those "# of letters in which name" times "# of letters in which name" questions... if you know the # of letters in both of the names, it's just straight multiplication.... that's why I said SOME of the math questions are a killer...
