Smart Tags on Anandtech?

In the past few days while browsing some websites, I have seen words that appear to be links. When I hover over them, a box pops up and tells me to buy things at MSN. Example, I was looking at the Dell 2001FP review when I noticed the word monitor underlined and a different color. When I mouseover it, a box telling me to Shop at MSN for monitors pops up. I continued onto the next page then went back to the offending page and it was gone.

Are these the IE Smart Tags? I thought that MS abandoned those a couple of years ago.

Yeah, after posting I did more searching and it does appear to be just dhtml or javascript. I guess it fits Anandtech's design well. 🙂

This has been happening on Anandtech for months.

I suggest you use a better browser, which will prevent you from seeing those ads.
Yeah, I have been thinking about trying Mozilla just to see how compatible sites are with it.
