Hey guys, I've looked all over for a solution to this but only found programs and methods of getting the key code while actually in windows. I have the new drive and am ready to install XP on it, but I need to retrieve the product key from the old drive.

I know its held in the registry, but is there a way to pull the registry off that drive while its connected as a slave on another system, or a program that I can point at that drive rather than the windows installation that I'm working from? I have the original XP CD that came with the computer, but the sticker with the key is MIA.

Thanks guys for any help you can give.

There are easy ways to pull the registry off that other drive, but I don't know of any of the key reporters that will work on a loaded registry. Check the BartsPe site, seems like the type of plugin someone may have written for that...

Scratch that.....got the install done and tried to access the drive from MY Computer, and command prompt. Its fried. Guess I'm SOL.
