I suggest contacting Seagate and ask them if it is possible to warranty as it most likly won't get better. I would also make sure you have your data backed up just in case.

On both counts...

Assuming it's an OEM drive you should have several years of warranty remaining. If you are unlucky and bought one of their retail units -- check on RMA asap as you may only have 1 year from date of purchase.

5 years and no proof of purchase AFAIK, you just need the serial #
