Also OP have you considered switching to ATT network? This would make your phone selection process so much easier.

Now airvoice and h20 have unlimited + 500 mb for 30 which is is better than page plus' offering.

Briefly considered it, a buddy works for AT&T and I could get on his employee plan, but it was a bit more than I was willing to spend.

Make sure you try an AT&T GSM phone in your home. Outside of my home my Lumia 920 would pull 3 bars. Once I got inside it was down to 1 only in a certain spot and dead in the rest of the house. Couldn't use it.

With verizon I'm pulling full 4 bars of LTE in my home.

It's bigger in every dimension and 15g heavier... so literally true.

And as someone who owned the G-weight Galaxy Nexus (VZ) and now owns the X-weight Galaxy S4, those 15g make a significant and noticeable difference.

Ok.

Dimensions

Both devices are very similar to each other in size. The Moto G is 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6mm, while the Moto X is 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4mm. There's not much in it at all.

The Moto G is a touch heavier, at 143g in comparison to 130g, but you really wouldn't notice.

As I said, it is not enough to make a big deal about it. I'm not disagreeing with you, the specs are plain to see, I'm just pointing out that the difference is minimal enough that it shouldn't be a concern. I had the moto g and moto x because of a shipping mixup by motorola and I compared them side by side in hand and to me the difference was very small. A case will have a much larger impact than a mere 13 grams

went to the verizon store, they didn't have everything that was online, but i gravitated towards the smaller phones, there's a samsung galaxy 3 mini, a galaxy 4 mini, a droid _something_ mini (droid mini maybe?), and the iphone 4s. honestly i like the samsung and droid form factors better, they aren't as blocky as the iphone even if they are slightly larger. not sure about the software, though. the samsung galaxy 3 mini rebooted on me 3 times while using it. the motorola mini seemed confusing. but i also admit that i don't know what to do with a smart phone, never really used one before.

as far as price, i didn't want to talk to a salesman but the focus now seems to be on paying something per month instead of buying the phone outright.

They want to try to enroll people in their plans where you pay full price and still end up on a contract D: There should still be a standard 2-year pricing listed somewhere. Compare on the website -- though, the in-store and website prices don't always match, even in corporate VZW stores.

Also, when you login to your account online, do they toss any promos at you? My sister in law was asking because they were offering her an iPhone 5C-32GB free to upgrade her basic phone. Couple that with one of the discounted smartphone plans ($50 after taxes) and it would be a great upgrade for you.

edit: Go back and fondle a 5C if you can.

Are you a current postpaid, off contract, Verizon customer?

If so, they offer (not available online, YOU WILL NOT SEE THIS ONLINE) both a $45 unlimited call/text/250MB plan, and a $60 unlimited call/text/2GB plan for current customers. This also gets you LTE coverage AND subsidized upgrades. HoFo has current threads with this, you can still get these despite their current new plans.

If you need more info I can do some searching and find the specific threads for those offers.

edit: damnit, I just want someone to take advantage of these deals. Someone in the extended family pays $75 for a dumbphone with limited minutes and texts and refuses to do this. Someone else just switched to T-Mobile (fine) but is just letting their grandfathered unlimited data plan and text plan go away to Verizon's benefit (not fine). *grumble*

If you can pick up an off contract Verizon iphone 4S/4 or android device here is the link to activate
