Smart phone as baby minder?

Hi all
My wife is looking to get a baby minder (audio, possibly video), and asked me if there is anything out for smart phones. The idea is to keep an eye on a baby in another part of the house while working.
I imagine its best to get a dedicated device, as I tried a few apps like this tied in through a web cam on my iphone a couple of years ago and they were all quite buggy.

Ideas?

last year i used one from the app store. pretty good if you have a good wifi signal between the phones. i think i got it free through some promotion years ago and didn't use it until last year
