Before you cheer or flame me, I make no claims for/against the validity of the data; I just provide the bandwidth.

So I shall say the same, I'm just providing the link. I'd take this stuff with a grain of salt, but it's interesting to say the least

You realize this was a joke. I also find it funny that Colorado, the most educated state in the union(by percentage of adults with bachelors degrees) voted for Bush......

People don't honestly believe that all people that vote for a party's candidate (everyone has differing reasons) is more intelligent than people that vote for another do they?

Besides, the vote was split somewhat evenly is almost every state +/- 10%, so how could it be an issue of state intelligence? A lot of people voted for Bush in Connecticut (the link's #1 state) just as a lot of people voted for Kerry in Mississippi (the link's #50 state).

Exactly.

People are acting like every state that is red, EVERYONE voted for Bush, and Blues all voted for Kerry. It was just a slight shift one way or the other.

If you look by county, it does appear that the population centers tend to be more where Kerry won. Thier tends to be more educated people in these areas, but there also tends to be more social issues there as well.

I will even question the validity of this statement. Urban centers tend to have some of the highest dropout rates in the country. In minneapolis the city itself has a dropout rate of realy 60%. I think if you want to get a better picture they need to go by precint. In Minneapolis I bet you anything it was Kerry in the actualy city, but the surrounding suburbs the further you go out the more red it got. But the further you go out the better the education system and better the education on avg of the people. btw all would be recognized as hennepin county. Which ended up going for Kerry.

You are right, but what percentage of High-School dropouts vote vs. those with a college eduacation?

Well I would assume there are more HS dropouts vs peopl with a college education, thus the numbers would be higher for the "uneducated" foke

Also what does IQ have to do with someone being smart? I've seen people with PhD lack any form of life skills or the like vs someone who might just have a HS diploma and alot of experance? People can be smart in one form or another. You don't have to be "smart" to vote, just be informed to make a selection.

I don't agree with that at all.

Also, I didn't say how many, I said how many vote.

Thats the point I'm making...lets say that 15% of people have a degree from college, but drop outs make 20% or so of the voting population...just by the bigger number of drop outs there should be more drop outs voting vs people who have a college education.

I agree there should be, but there is not. Also, I think the dropout rates are being highly exaggerated. I just did a quick google search, and it looks like the national average is less than 10%. In my county, it is probably around 1-2% and probably over 25% with a college degree. Minneapolis looks like it is around 8-12% (found a couple different quotes - from different years) I would guess that more than 15% of the population has a degree.

I'm curious, is there a poll showing the voters eduaction level breakdown?
