My electric service is through Duke Energy. I recently received an offer for a free gateway device to view usage real-time through the gateway and a phone app. Duke provides it for free, a device that connects via Ethernet to your router, and wirelessly to the meter. Needs to be within 75' of the meter.
FedEx delivered it a couple of days ago, and I went through the setup steps. Didn't work initially, but Duke IT got it working within an hour. It only provides the actual usage, with a lag of a second or two. Interesting to see how much different things use. Something's use less than I expected. Example the dishwasher, when washing. Haven't check it when it's in the dry cycle. Dryer, as expected. Range, can watch a burner cycle on/off. Proves how much LED bulbs can save. Kitchen has nine 50 watt equivalent bulbs, and it drops about 0.05kW when turned off. Large burner of cook top, jumps 2.0 when turned on.
Anyone else have one or anything similar?
