I'm going to upgrade my current pc, and I have narrowed the options to these boards:
Asus A7N8X-X (nForce 2, SINGLE channel memory interface)
or
Gigabyte GA-7N400-L (nForce 2, DUAL channel memory interface)
They Gigabyte is only $7 more expensive than the Asus.
As the dual channel interface does not add much to the performance unless running professional 3d rendering programs, the considerations below are the ones that will make the difference.
I have noticed that the gigabyte board does not have circuitry to autimatically shut down the cpu if it gets to hot. This doesn't concern me too much although it would be nice to have.
What iritates is that the Gigabyte board doesn't appear to have automatic CPU fan speed control to reduce the noise level. I have read about this feature on other Gigabyte boards, but I can't seem to find any definitive information.
Do any of you know for certain if the GA-7N400-L contains smart fan control?
Regards
Andreas
