smart error message at bios start up

i got a new motherboard asus a7v8x-x
my old one was a a7v133

the error is on the startup screen where it auto detects cdroms/hardrives
it says "SMART failure predicted on device maxtorblahblah, back up data and replace harddrive"

and it sits there until i press F1

Uh, maybe you should back up data and replace hard drive.

If you don't care that you're probably going to lose all your data, you can turn off the warning in the BIOS setup.

where is the warning option in the bios?
i have smart monitoring off and virus check off

and i just did a bed sector check and its all fine so what is it?

Smart is a warning system that is very good at predicting drives near failure. I would check your drive to see if it is still under warranty.

man i just put the drive in my old pc and it come on there too
it was all fine and runninguntil i moved it now this happens.

go to the maxtor site & get powermax.
if you get an error code it will help you to rma the hdd if it's still under warranty.

RMA the drive ( if it's still under warranty)
and BACK UP YOUR STUFF!! before your back asking about putting the drive in the freezer so you can get all the files off your dead drive.
