SMART data from a usb2 enclosure?

I don't think so. I know many motherboard RAID controllers can't read SMART data, so I just assume that external enclousures can't either. I could be wrong though.

I've heard Active SMART will do it. I don't think it will. But there is a trial version that's a free download. So feel free to try and report back.

If you have an application that requires an external drive with SMART Granite Digital has a bridge board for 1394 that does SMART in hardware.

That granite digital board looks sweet. Too bad its out of my price range. I was just hoping to be able to monitor the temp of my HD. The Diamondmax9 series tends to run a bit hot.
