smallville new season and day change?

I keep seeing commericals advertising that smallville is moving to wednesday nights. Is this in preparation for the new season or is the new season starting next Wednesday? In the commercial, they show the final scene of the season finale: Clark riding on the motorcycle. It seems a bit early for the season to start but I wouldn't complain.
 
wow, that would be an early start to the season, very unlikely.

i like the new night and time tho. my kids always want to stay up to see this and my wife always says no. they fight. now it will be early enough for them to watch this.

And Yes, Smallville is being moved to Wednesday, but the new season does not start until fall.
