i first bought a 10.1" netbook. HATED the 1024x600 reolution.

then got a 11.6" one with 1366 x 768 resolution.
still not satisfied because i have a 21.5" desktop LCD at 1080 x 1920 (turned portrait).

i dont like paging down and want more vertical resolution so i page down less.

For laptops, what are the smallest screen sizes for the next 3 sizes above 1366 x 768? (i consider 1200 x 800 the same class as 1366 x 768)

1600x900 vaio z 13"
1920x1080 AFAIK also vaio z with screen upgrade but IMHO you need eyes like a hawk for this.

the 13" 1600x900 sounds perfect for me.

1920x1080 @ 13"
yike.. and i thought my old 1920 x 1200 @ 15.6" was pushing it.

surprised there isnt a step up in resolution at 12"?

Does apple have some kind of lock on the air displays? It seems some other manuf. would have used this same screen by now? The res. is probably about the best tradeoff there is, but it would be nice to see it on machines that don't cost 1k...Pityful to see all these "high end" small size laptops *ultrabooks* with 1366x768 :(

Also, my m4600 I use at work has a 15.6 with 1920x1080. It's useable, but like Jedi said I def. wouldn't want that resolution on any smaller of a screen...

i agree. 1440x900 would be perfect for a 13" screen

You guys with your perfect eyesight disgust me! I have a Clevo 15.4" notebook with 1920x1200 and it is pointless for me (anyone want to buy it?). I'm perfectly happy with 1366x768 on screens under 14".

BTW didn't Lenovo use to offer a higher resolution and better quality screen on their 12.5" X220?

It's actually not impossible to see when you're at the usual hunched over machine range. However I usually tend to plump for the 1600 when going for a Z these days as it's less of a hassle to see from an arm's length, and because I use remote desktops rather often which you can't scale.
