How about what's the smallest digital camera with water proof case as accessory?

I thought Pentax Optio S4 has case for it but I couldn't find it.. So I guess Canon 400 would be the best choice?

just watch out with super small cams, tiny lenses, tiny tiny ccds that are prone to more noise then signal etc😛 when you make a ccd with more pixels, they better be bigger, or each will capture less light.

Most digital cameras will have small CCD's unless they are DSLR ones. So you can't chance the fact that they have a smal CCD's as you don't get a choice 😛

Still there's a huge difference in the "small" part. Canon S series is relatively small but has a pretty good sensor, my U-40 is tiny and as a result the sensor is a lot smaller and a lot noisier.

Pentax Optio S4. Love mine. I use an Altoids tin as a case.

Ditto, I padded the 4 corners of my Altoid tin with soft velcro and makes for a nice, snug fit. Only complaint I have is the less than spectacular flash, other than that I love my Optio S4.

There is also the Optio S4i which replaces the S4. The downside about the s4i is you need to mod the altoids case a bit to get it to fit. Also the S4(i) do not have a focus lamp.
uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/myOptioS/ has information on this.

The Canon Powershot s400 and the newer s410 is larger and heavier (but still small), has better ratings on picture quality and has a focus lamp. Also video is limited to 3 minutes where as on the S4i it's only limited by the size of the SD card.

My wife just bought a Nikon SQ.

Review:http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/nikonsq.html

It's a neat little camera. Has a rotating lense that lets you take more creative shots than the more traditional ultra compacts allow. Also has a built in battery that is recharged on the docking station that it comes with. Uses compact flash which was a plus as well. The pictures it takes are sort of noisy when blown up on a screen at full size, but they print out very well.

It's not as small as the Pentax Optio or the Canon SXXX line, but we found it more comfortable to use and the built in battery charger and ability to CF was a winning combo.

We bought it at Ritz for $250.
