I bought an XPS m1330 and it's a POS. (Text)

Now - what would you recommend for a small, light laptop from dell. As far as I can tell, my only option is the D630 - which is a bit too large with a 14.1" display. There is a D430 but I'm leary of the ULV cpu's - opinions? I won't be doing any gaming, but do use photoshop from time to time, as well as always having outlook, word/etc, and multiple rdp sessions open. It's unfortunate that they no longer sell the m1210 as that would fit my needs.

I'm not very limited on price - I'd like to keep it under $3k or so.

Suggestions?

I've found it's best to use the same brand equipment as the users you support. Ideally I'd prefer a lenovo or even a powerbook - but then I'd have to deal with other people wanting the same thing. Also, my PO system makes it easy to buy a dell.

If you don't mind a refurb laptop then look for the M1210 at the Dell outlet. If not, there really is nothing else but a 14.1" from Dell

lol..

The two smallest laptops i can think of, well more like palmtops,

The OQO
http://www.oqo.com/

And the Samsung Q1.

Those 2 are ultra low votlage cpu's tho.

Sharp also makes some nice small factor laptops, like the murasame or muramasa... (one of the famous katana sword makers.... dont remember which one it was)

Sony VAIOS are fairly small and i heard they use a respectable OEM vendor now, so you might want to check out vaios.

Panasonic also has a toughbook which is tiny too, and built fairly tough.
