Am I asking too much? I'd like to find a super compact digital camera that has video capablity. Under $200 if possible. Any such animal?

there are tons of digital cameras these days that are tiny and do video.

both my casio exilim 600 and panasonic fx 01 shoot at 30 fps

the casio is slim and the panasonic is small

if you want i can take pictures of the cameras themselves.

Used Canon SD200 probably. It can do 640x480 at 30fps if i'm not mistaken. The SD300/400/500/600/650/700/800/900 can all do it as well 😀.

oh additional info that i forgot to mention

when i bought both cameras, they were around 300, but they should be considerably cheaper now that they've been out for a loooooong time.

casio exilim ex 600 shoots at 640 x 480
panasonic fx 01 shoots at 840 x 480 (its based on the leica wide angle lens)

both shoot at 30 fps.

here's a pic of my casio

unfortunately, i broke my casio, so i have no camera to take a picture of the panasonic with.

here is a video i shot with casio, and here is a video i shot with my panasonic . keep in mind that twango transcodes vids at 15 fps, but it gives you an idea.

aaaaaaand as for still photos, here are still photos i took with panasonic
and a photo i took with the casio

Tangent footnote - KDOG, when you get one, remember NOT to turn it on its side while 'filming' like you would a still 😉 I had to fix a video like that once for a friend.
