Smaller LCD with same stats as 2405fpw?

I'm looking for a DVI LCD with similar image quality and response time as the 2405fpw, but hopefully a little smaller (and still able to do 1600x1200). It seems like the next logical choice would be the 2005fpw, but it won't go to 1600 x 1200. Doesn't seem like the 2001fp comes close in terms of color quality or contrast.

Suggestions?

From my understanding you will not find a desktop LCD that supports 1600 x 1200 under 20". Also, the two monitors that you were looking at are wide screen models with resolutions of 1920 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050 (for the 2405fpw and 2005fpw respectively). If you were to play 1600 x 1200 you would either have a stretched image or black bars on the side of the screen.

The only dell monitor that supports 1600 x 1200 is the 2001fp. From what I understand the 2100fp is in the same product line as the 2005fpw and 2400fpw so the image and color quality should be very close. Other than that there aren?t too many monitors that I can think of with a native resolution of 1600 x 1200.

I have a 2001fp and love it, and I am a heavy gamer. I was a little iffy coming from a 17in Trinitron, and all my fears have been laid to rest.

I just ordered a 2405fpw. Does anyone have any experience with this monitor? I have read good things about it and it should be coming later this week. I have used a Sony Trinitron 19" for about 6 years now so I am hoping this upgrade is a good one because my Sony finally died.

The 2405FPW is an amazing monitor. I just got mine last week to replace a 2001FP as my primary display, and I wish I had done it sooner. I was very happy with my 2001FP, but the 2405FPW is just ... gigantic. I went from running the 2001FP + 1800FP to 2405FPW + 2001FP (rotated 90 degrees) and I couldn't be happier. I was also fortunate enough to get a 2405FPW with no dead or stuck pixels. If you aren't as lucky and end up with any dead or stuck pixels I'd definitely suggest taking advantage of Dell's 21 day return/exchange policy to keep trying until you get a "perfect" one. For that much money, it's worth being picky.

NeuronBasher, could you do me a favor and measure display area _height_ of the 2001FP (unrotated) and the 2405FPW. They don't happen to be the same, or do they?

They are.

1920x1200 vs 1600x1200

pixel pitch is the same, so the height is the same as well.
