Small server ideas

Say you were starting a network in a small business that had maybe 20 computers, but was expecting expansion down the road of maybe a dozen or so more computers... what kind of server would you go for? I'm thinking a tower server, not a rack or anything, but who would you go with?

I've also considered DIY, but the only problem with that is you are fully responsible for the server, whereas you get support if you buy a server which is always really good for a small business on a tight budget.
