small questions on AVG Virus Scanner FREE edition

when I run a program and it is infected with a virus, does it detect automatically? and then does it treat the virus automatically or do I have to run the actual scanner and scan the whole drive for the virus?

thanks

It should detect it and let you get rid of the virus. It's probably a good idea to run a scan on your entire drive after you've detected a virus though.

It detected a virus automatically yesterday. I don't think I have it set right, because it just informed me and I had to run the scanner to fix it.

yeah it didn't tell me that it fixed it automatically... how do I set this?? or is it even possible with AVG? maybe I should get the e-trust virus scanner?
