Small Problem with my firewall

My neighbor resently purchased a wirless router and while he was messing around with it, he somehow accessed my pictures I was sharing between my two computers..... I thought my Firewall should prevent this (By the way im using Kerio Personal Firewall.)

Turn on WEP or WPA encryption on your wireless router. Without it, anybody in your neighborhood can read everything you type (if they really want to), in addition to accessing your file shares in Windows XP Home.

Or, simply disable the Wireless section of your Wireless router, if you don't use Wireless.

There is a common ?Mix Up? in the words Security, as related to Firewall and Wireless.

You are talking about Wireless Security that has Nothing to do with Firewalls.

Wireless is just a replacement for a Wire and thus can be intercepted by people in the neighborhood attaching themselves to your LAN.

That is why there is Wireless Security measures to avoid Local Tapping.

Wireless Security for the Home User.

The Firewall "Job" is to protect the Internet connection from being invaded from the Internet side, and to prevent your LAN computers from transmitting out to the Internet privileged information.

You can further secure your LAN by giving your computers static IPs and restrict the trusted zone in the Firewall these IPs.

By doing so, an Intruder might be able to "Steal" Internet Bandwidth but would not get into your Shares.
