Small oil leak..(w/pic)

BUTCH1

Lifer
Hello all, been noticing a small oil seepage from around the
intake manifold area Pic, car
is under warranty til Nov, wondering if the dealer will try to repair this type of leak/weep or will
they consider it "normal usage". Engine is an '05 GM 3.5 V6, Thanks in advance for your suggestions/opinions.

I'd give it a shot. Oil leaks and things are stuff that people notice when buying used cars, whether they are serious or not. If there's a chance it will be repaired under warranty I'd go for it. You've got nothing to lose.

That is not more then a vapor leak. Most will not repair something like that. But go to the dealer and have them look at it. If they don;t repair it save the paper work. 1 month before the warranty runs out take it back and show them the paper work and tell them it is worse now. If they don't repair it make sure they note that there was a small leak before the warranty runs out. Save the paper work that shows that. If it becomes a major problem in the next year or 10k then most of the time they will repair it for free as it was a issue while under warranty. If it never gets worse then it probable will be like that for another 100k and still not give a problem.

I have seen vapor leaks like that and they never got worse in over 50k+.

I would remove the engine cover and have a look around to see where it came from. It may be nothing more than a bolt or fitting that was not fully tightened.

Most likely they will, many GM dealers are hurting from sales right now and are relying on their service and parts depts. to make up the shortfall.

Sounds like a good idea, I really don't want the intake manifolds taken apart unless it becomes
really necessary anyway. Have to bring it in Fri. to get the cruise cont. fixed and the traction control
defeat button is now inoperable as well so I'll have the leak/weep documented then..
