I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I have searched for something like this have have turned up notta.

What I am looking for is plain and simple amplifiers for home use.

I don't want Big Integrated Amps... Recievers... any of that stuff. Just something small (like a car amplifier) that has Power, Input and Output (and maybe a gain control).

I find it hard to believe that they make ALL Kinds of powered speakers and subwoofers (like PC speakers) yet you can't buy the amps as a seperate component. At least I haven't found any.

I have a nice pair of bookshelf speakers I'd like to hook up to my TV, but I don't want to use a big component for a power amp.

I'd like to do the same thing with a PC I have setup for my wife.

If anyone can point me to anything that may exist like this I'd appreciate it.

What I am thinking of is something that may be the size of say, a DVD drive for a computer... something around 20 to 40 watts per channel would be killer.

Hope that made sense.:D

There are plenty of manufactures of power amps. You don't mention how many channels or how much you want to spend though.

I haven't seen a 40 watt amp in years, because there really isn't much of a market for it.

I think TEAC made really small low power amps, remember seeing them at Crutchfield or J&R.
