Small HDTV output question

Right so i have connected a TV with the Component cables (RGB) to my video card, set up the resolution and all that i see the screen but i do not see the icons or taskbar, i just see the background picture. when i play a video on my PC monitor the TV stays the same and does not change

i have the latest drivers but when i used older drivers (or maybe when i used an S-Video Connection prior to getting new cables) i had an option to display video in Full screen on my TV when it was played...not that option is no longer there

the TV is tiny i think its a 27" fat HDTV not lcd, so the resolution is like 480i or something but i used to have full screen video with an S-video cable and now with these new cables its gone

This is messier than you think. I have had similar trouble some time ago. I have a 27-inch 4:3 TV, while you have an widescreen TV, but the solution should be similar.

First rule: set your videocard output to the same resolution as your TV. Then read my original thread:
