What the guy offers applies to poor white people, too, of which there have likely been an increasing number in recent years. And it applies to all the near poor people living in states that have denied medicare extension.

Hey, maybe if conservatives in general didn't get so stupid twisted over the "free" birth control part of that, maybe we'd be able to do some good in a non-coercive way. And maybe if they quit shutting down abortion clinics then women would be able to use that last resort should they choose.

And maybe if conservatives acknowledge that American working people have been purposefully idled so that America's investor class enjoy higher profits thru offshoring & automation, maybe we'd be able to find some economic leadership out of this morass.

We sure as hell won't find it among conservatives, because their ideology supports that ongoing shift entirely. It's actually the root cause, sold to the public by well financed propaganda machines for decades.

Welfare should be a safety net. Single mother of one loses her job and needs food, housing, and gas money while she searches for a new job...that's a good example of welfare. Fatass single mother of 4 who can't work because daycare would cost more than any job she's qualified to do would pay...that's not a good use of welfare.
