Call me an ass, but I didn't put any Stabilizer in after winter last year. I just got it out to start it up and get it ready, but it won't start. It's only a year old. Anything I can do?

drain the gas and refill with fresh gas.
you can put the old gas in your cars tank without a problem
once you have fresh gas in snowblower, you need to get it started by using starting fluid or by pouring a little bit of gas directly in the carb.

if that doesn't work, you'll have to clean the carb

Probably not getting gas. Take the spark plug out, pour a little fuel in the cylinder, put spark plug back in and see if it will crank.

I thought I felt my ears ringing.

You're probably going to have to pull the float bowl off and squirt some carb cleaner up the main jet, then replace and fill with fresh fuel.

If the float bowl has a drain on it, drain the old fuel and fill with fresh, and get some starting fluid. It might clear itself if you can get it to crank.

But if it won't stay running, you'll have to clean the carb.

Carb cleaner, check spark plug, etc. You may want to check the gas tank itself to see how much the gas has schlacked on the bottom. You may need to clean it out by pouring in some Kerosene, putting in a few rocks, and mixing/shaking the tank. That should get rid of the buildup, but remember to get all that back out of the tank.

You might need some ether after you change the gas to give it a little jump start.

I ran into something similar with a lawn mower. the carb is probably gummed up, in my case it was the main jet - no fuel to motor means no run. You can try the carb cleaner but if that doesn't work pull the carb and soak in diesel fuel or kerosene. Basically what Eli said.

carbs gummed up..

first put new gas in the tank.. and put some carb cleaner in it.. take out plug, clean it and put it back in.

Then get some carb cleaner (spray type), take apart the carb.. Carefully take it apart, there are small parts in it, spray each thing with carb cleaner.. every tiny hole.. once everything is clean, let it dry and then rebuild it back up. Once rebuilt it should run like a champ.
