Small dots on my screen

Im getting black dots when Im on desktop. I get color dots on 3d games and 2d games. I have a geforce 2 gts, 1.4 t-bird w/ ECS K7S5A, 512mb ddr. Is this a video card problem? Btw, I never overclock my video card.
 
Probably video card. If it was the monitor you would prolly see the dots in the same place all the time.

Sounds like your video card is running hot for some reason. You might want to make sure either the fan is working correctly if it has one and if it doesn't then you need to get some good cooling on it. I hope that is all it is.
