Small crackbox idea and other money-making ideas!

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I think I know how we can afford the crackbox.

If all of us get Porivo and CapCal, we can all run them in addition to OGR since they barely take up any CPU and memory. Now, assuming they actually pay us, we can, instead of selfishly hording the money, donate to the crackbox.

"But that's just like throwing money at it like some of us are vowing to do," you say. Not entirely, since this money is coming at us from already leaving the computers on 24/7.

Income guesses:
Porvio: About $5 a month plus $1 more on the first month if everyone refers eachother. With half of us participating, that's $3000 on the first month and $2500 every month thereafter.
CapCal:
I don't know what the average month is for most people, but I think it might have problems with mine, so we'll guess $5.00 month there too. That's another $2500 based on 1/2 particpation.
PayPal:
Let's say only half of the participants have a PayPal account. That's another $5 out of refferals, $1250.

With this method, we can make about $6250 a month.

Make sure when you sign up for Provio to use someone else's ID. Mine is Thyme (go figue) if you want to use mine. All the money in PayPal is going to the crackbox fund, so it really doesn't matter. When you sign up, it will take a few days for them to make you Active, then the dollar will come in to play.

I've heard of some problems with CapCal though...total network and CPU usage, etc.

Maybe they're still trying to get their act together, but porivo looks legit. Can't lose much.

How well behaved is the Porivo client? I have a P166 with DSL that sounds like it might be a good match.

You mention referals also. How does that work and who should I refer?

This is exactly what I was planning to do. I started porivo (couldn't get capcal to work) and my status is pending. I didn't post this in the crackrack thread, because now I only have $1 from starting the paypal account, and was a bit shy to post &quot;I'm donating $1&quot;

Another idea:
Let the treasurer sign up for all affiliate programs at places we commonly buy from and then pots the links in the hot deals forum (maybe they mods will allow the referals there because it's going back to the AT crackbox). That'll be easier than having everyone sign up for something when they buy one thing and then try to get over the limits themselves.
