Small cheap i7 (15") laptop vs large expensive i7 laptop

Ideally I need to have practically desktop in laptop except i DON'T need it for games.

Lets take the Tochiba (since they only one i found who offer stock USB 3)

Plan A: i buy small 15"6 laptop they sell for ~$600 and connect it to external 22 or 24" screen ($150) and get same power as if

Plan B: have to buy 17"5 inch laptop with slightly more ram, hdd for ~$1100 and stay with 17" screen (probably anyway will buy 22 or 24" screen).

P.S. I am NOT gaming and don't care how about video card, DirectX level etc.
P.P.S. i have external mouse and keyboard.

Now who can answer why Plan A is a bad idea, without being biased?

Could you be more precise about what lag you talking about? I am not going to carry screen this laptop is 80% for home use and sometimes i might go somewhere with it but will not take external screen. For this rare occasions i be fine having smaller screen.

Why are you able to spend a total of $1100 for option B but only $750 for option A? Obviously with that discrepancy in price, option B is going to go get you a better machine.

If this is mainly a desktop replacement that you will only carry occassionally, then you probably do not need the extended battery life. Just get the large screen and the standard battery pack.

I dont think an i-7 is worth buying, but you may have decided you need it. Unless you are going to run a labor-intensive program like video editing, graphics, or Huge Database, I dont see a need for it. The thing that slows computers down is usually the internet connection, Spam, Virus, etc.

So just get something like a 15 inch screen and buy a separate Flat Monitor or TV.
