Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of a case that has roughly the same footprint as a full-size ATX motherboard? So the power supply and hdd cages are above the motherboard, or at least the drive cages).

Hoping for something that is no more than 13 inches in any direction, yet fits an ATX board. (kind of a long story, but...) Thanks for any ideas :awe:

The Coolermaster Elite posted above is slightly more than 17x14.

I doubt you'll get much smaller than that.

Maybe you can go into a little bit more detail about what you need? I dunno about anyone else, but I've got time for a long story.

Hmmm, that coolermaster will probably work, it isn't much wider than the board (which is what I was hoping for)

I just have an ATX board that I'm using for a server, and was hoping I could get it to fit on a shelf I had in mind for it.

I was hoping for<13" wide (length doesn't really matter) - just a hair wider than the motherboard, which is what that coolermaster looks like - yet it states 14"? I can't see there being 1" of case on either side, but maybe..

Seems kind of silly buying a new case for a 10+ year old mobo/cpu, though...

Hmm, the lian li linked above looks about the same size (width wise) as the coolermaster, but claims to be an inch wider. who knows.

ho hum, maybe I should move to a different motherboard. I like the old PIII rig though... quiet, enough power for it's menial job, low power consumption, serial ports.. IDE so it works with the old drives im using with it.
I was thinking about one of the cheap all-in-one mITX or mATX boards, but I don't like atom, E350 is a bit too much for this system, and I don't know about the VIA boards...

PS - WTF is up with this forum? it's acting like HTML formatting, eating my line breaks and trainwrecking on <, etc.

^ Affirmed. Yet beware, it's near impossible to install any 3.5 hdd's. More options exist with mAtx.

Bumping this - my brother is considering the PC-A55, but reviews are generally...mixed at best.
I think it's not evident how to make the best of keeping components cool in that case.
If anyone here could post actual builds/pics, I'd be interested in hearing about it/seeing them.
