Small camera tha uses AA batteries?

Do any good camera that use AA batteries still exist or has every company gotten into the proprietary money making format?

I am coming off of an older Nikon 4100 point and shoot that uses AA batteries and want to see if anything out there works decently and uses a standard battery format. Using AA makes traveling so much easier and having a case of them charged up is much easier than hunting stuff down on ebay and having only a limited amount of extras.

I am looking for a pocket sized camera, it does not have to be one of the ultra slim subcompact tiny things.

I know what you mean. Last year, on a trip to the Greek Isles and Italy, I picked up a Canon S3 IS for that reason. It has been succeeded by the S5 IS. It runs on a pair of AA's, and I recall getting them in odd places at local stores. 🙂

Aside from that, it is a great little camera - 12X optical zoom and a simple SD memory card. The rear LCD is hinged and very useful for high over-the-crowd shots. Not the ultra-slim, but still small enough to be pocketed or hung around the neck and slid under a jacket.

S5

It can be had for between $200 and $300.

My Panasonic DMC-LZ7 (7.2MP, 6x optical zoom, optical IS) uses 2 AAs. I got over 200 pics and 5-10min of video off one pair of 2400mah nihms. It isn't a teeny tiny camera but it will fit in a pocket. Cost me $130 back in December.

Anyone else know of anything good?

The Panasonic one looks pretty good for what we are needing it for.. the Canons are nice as well but I feel like trying something different..
