Hi all:
I was trying to add another machine running SBS2003 into my current domain. However, I already have a machine running SBS2003 as the PDC already and when I first added the new machine, it wouldn't let me saying that it had to be PDC. So I ran DCPROMO and got it to add to the existing domain. However, a week later, it would auto shutdown due to SBCORE stating that this machine had to be promoted to the PDC. I checked with Microsoft and they said that 2 machines can run SBS and be in the same domain. However, according the the SBS techincal sheets, it says that 1 domain can have only 1 machine running SBS and that that machine must be the PDC/FSMO (I think I spelled that wrong). Can someone tell me which is correct?

I was told a few days ago by people here that SBS cannot interact with other servers, and there cannot be more than one in a single domain.

I work at M$ and have talked to the SBS guys about this before.

SBS has to be the PDC.

It's specially setup to be a "single" domain controller environment. Small Businesses don't typically have mulitple domains or DCs. (Remember, SBS is made for 50 users or less)

SBS OS itself can run on another machine, but you can't make it a Domain Controller. If it's not a DC, then at that point, it's just a Win2k3 Server "basically"

Two DC's on SBS Network = No way

Answer you question?

Not quite true. You can have additional Server 2003 DCs in the SBS domain, but they cant hold any of the FSMO roles.

So basically, the SBS machine MUST be the PDC and hold all the FSMO roles? So, when I try to have a network that has 2 SBS machines, it won't work. Any way to get them to cooperate, besides creating 2 domains?
