Here's the deal, I don't have that much experience with networks at all.

Here's the setup:

-Several computers networked together on Windows Server 2000
-Connection goes from MODEM to Router (only uses 1 output on router) to (8 port)HUB to (12 port)HUB to (8 port)HUB to PC's

Here's the question:

I am going to be moving the entire network location which means rewiring all of the connections. I am going to eliminate 2 HUB's because they only need 8 connections now. If I rewire everything the exact same way it was (or close to it and minus 2 HUB's), will anything have to be changed on the server-end for user connectivity and file sharing and such?

TIA

-Mike

If the Number of computers is the same and you only eliminate empty ports, nothing would change.

If you take few computers of the Network. Depends how the server and Clients Disk Mapping (if any) is set. You may be need to do minor adjustments to Server and Client settings.

I ran that thought by him as well, but he said if the equipment works...use it.
