Meh... that's like saying the average realtor makes $12k/yr. It's not really a valid statistic since only about 10% of people who hold a license actually work it as a full time job.

There are TONS of people who hold SAG cards but acting isn't their full-time occupation. So they get one or two small-time roles a year... yeah that contributes to the average but it's not their full-time occupation.

It's less than 10% :(

Its alot of bull crap, I don't doubt that the numbers are technically correct, but they are deffinitely presented in a misleading way. There is no way this is these peoples full time jobs if they are only making $5000/yr, of actors only making $12/hr (must just be random extras).

The least amount an actor can make in any given day for a movie is $650. So I guess there is now 55 hours in a day or the media is once again giving false truths...

the most liberal actors make tons of money while the crew gets shafted.
funny how that works. i guess they push their causes because of the guilt.

Out of the 20 mil for George Clooney or Brad Pitt, half will get taxed by uncle sam, and then a chunk goes to the SAG.

Yeah - you guys are right. We should stop being such a bunch of liberal queers, shouldn't we? I mean, really, why should someone strive to achieve something artistically when we could just get in line with everyone else, wear a tie and stare at code all day.

Really, that sounds like a hoot.

In typical douchebag fashion, the word "liberal" is introduced into the discussion by someone and the whole thing takes a new spin. It must take a lot to live with yourself with that kind of disgust for your fellow human being bubbling inside of you.

Because the actors name has the potential to put asses in seats and drive DVD sales. No one other than a friend goes to a movie because someone worked as Key Grip on it.

And secondly, you and TehMac should start an ATOT bigot club. Think of the possibilities.

I'm sure these stats are distorted in some way. Like counting people who work part-time at a play as the extra who comes in for one scene just to be a person. Technically an actor, and technically part-time. And they factor those in, and i'm sure they find other loopholes to make it look more terrible.

Sigh, DIAF.

Relax, I think he was just making a Team America reference.

As an aspiring comedian, I find this news encouraging. I was getting tired of eating. Now I see I won't be able to afford to.

there are more actors making only $30-50k a year than any making multiples of that. Add that into the fact that they usually have to live in higher priced areas so they are available quickly for roles. There are quite a few actors I know that do it full-time but only end up with theatre and occasional commericals locally.

Bryan and Kristin Datillo are two that made it pretty well that I knew personally in High School (they rode my bus actually) Bryan was Lucas on Days of our Lives in my High School class, and she was in various things like Chips, Janie's got a gun video, the Chris Issak show)....oddly for both their senior years they transferred to Beverly Hills High.

On a side note, one of his roles was in the movie Gaydar...you take what you can get.

not really, actors and politics are kind of entwined these days, esp when someone brings up clooney.

if he were republican or libertarian than sure, the free market rules would be fine.
